In the last literature class we started working with Romeo and Juliet. Last year we left the story on Act 1, so the teacher asked us to write the main events of it to continue working with Act 2. We had to work in groups, I worked with Nico Grosso.
In my opinion, these are the main events that happen in the first act of Romeo and Juliet.
The fight that happens in the first scene in the Streets of Verona, where the Capulets and Montagues fight with each other. The fight is ended by Prince Escalus, a symbol of authority in the city, who says that the next one who starts a fight will have to pay with his own death.
Another main event is when the Capulet servant asks Romeo to read the list of people invited to the Capulet’s party. I think this is one of the important events in the story, if not the most important, as if Romeo didn’t read the list, he wouldn’t have known about the party wouldn’t have met Juliet, the story of Romeo and Juliet wouldn’t have existed.
The third main event is when Romeo is convinced by his two best friends, Benvolio and Mercutio, to go to this party, where he meets Juliet. He enters the party and sees Juliet, in that moment he completely fell in love with her.
The last main event in the first act is when Romeo and Juliet start talking to each other and finally kiss, as in that moment they fell in love with other and their story begins.
